Song Upload FAQ

The current music player on the FQ site will only play songs in the MP3 format.
Songs from iTunes or other sources may not be in the MP3 format. The following information will help you understand the process for converting music files to MP3 and uploading them onto the FQ site.

Converting an Audio File to an MP3 in iTunes

1. Make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes

2. In the iTunes main menu, go to Edit -> Preferences (Windows) or iTunes -> Preferences (Mac)

3. On the General tab, click on the "Import Settings..." button

4. Verify that "MP3 Encoder" is selected in the drop down next to "Import Using:" (select it from the list if not)

5. Close the window
6. Find the song you wish to convert in your library and select it

7. In the iTunes main menu, go to Advanced -> Create MP3 Version

8. iTunes will then generate an MP3 version of your song in the same folder as the original

9. PLEASE NOTE: Some songs purchased from earlier versions of the iTunes store may have write-protection still enabled which will prevent you from being able to create an MP3 version.

Lowering the Quality of an MP3 in iTunes

1. In the iTunes main menu, go to Edit -> Preferences (Windows) or iTunes -> Preferences (Mac)

2. On the General tab, click on the "Import Settings..." button

3. Click the drop down box under “Setting:”

4. Select a lower quality from the top three options listed, or click “custom” and select from there
