Another nice article Tyler. I genuinely enjoy geeking out on this stuff and enjoy sharing what I've learned over the years with other players.

I've got most of those drives and you're recommending some great ones. I thought I'd mention the single channel version of the Tim (the Timmy) is fantastic for a smaller board. I had both built with some customizations by Paul and I constantly get comments on how great they sound. Nice recommendation!

One thing I've found is that it's important to get down near your speakers and pay attention to how much gain as well as volume you're adding when you engage the pedal. Oftentimes it can be difficult to tell if you're standing above or near your amp. More often than not players are adding too much gain to their overdrive pedals. Compensate for lower, on-the-edge breakup, by adding a touch more volume. Be careful so that your boost isn't a face-melt. If you play different guitars it's good to note how single coil vs. humbuckers affect the pedal. They send different types of signals and settings for one might not be good for the other.

Watch out...soon you'll find yourself obsessed with your overdrive tone and when it's not where you think it should be it'll ruin your day. :)

All you guitar players have such crazy pedals. Drummers are content with just two. Two feet. Two pedals. One *booms*. The other *clicks*. Simple and effective :)
