Check out this new video from Daniel Carson, for “My Soul Magnifies The Lord” from Chris Tomlin’s new Christmas Album, Glory In The Highest: Christmas Songs of Worship.
November 2009
Hey guys! This is the first of many “Artist Spotlight”s, and the first artist is MuteMath. If you haven’t heard these guys, you HAVE to buy a CD soon. My personal favorite is their self-titled album that on iTunes, also has songs from their earlier EP, Reset. They’re extremely hard to pin to one genre, and the lyrics are very very good. Here’s a couple exerpts:
Control
Take control of the atmosphere
Take me far away from here
There is no better loss than to lose myself in you
In a parachute to glide, I am captive in your sky
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Chaos
I know you stay true when my world is false
everything around’s breaking down to chaos
I always see you when my sight is lost
everything around’s breaking down to chaos
The Nerve
Can you believe this world’s got the nerve to insist they won’t trade in for a better one?
Can you believe this world’s yellin’ out in the dark it wants to be left alone?
Can you believe this world never woulda had the chance without us giving it blood?
Can you believe this world lacks the common courtesy to thank us all for the love?
You Are Mine
Everyone has their obsession
consuming thoughts
consuming time
they hold high their prized possession
it defines the meaning of their life
You are mine
Check these guys out soon. Their live show is one of the best around, so don’t miss them if they come to town!
Let us know what you think!

Powerful Praise:
“Into Marvelous Light I’m running/Out of darkness, out of shame/By the cross- You are the Truth, You are the Life, You are the Way. “
Charlie Hall has written a powerful song that many of us can identify with. The words of a broken person made whole make the song “Marvelous Light” a song we can all come around and lift up to our Lord.
In 1 Peter 2:9-10, a similar testimony was written, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you might declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are a people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
Priests with Purpose:
Worshippers and Lead Worshippers, God has called us to be priests. Historically, priests are those who help connect people with God. Offering hope and love in this world is the mission that God has blessed us with. Often, we all settle for living good lives and going about our business. When we live a life of worship, it doesn’t mean to keep the good news of Jesus to ourselves. Selfishly, we keep quiet either because of fear, idleness, or lack of gratefulness. Sadly, ministers, we are so guilty of this. Time and focus slips away as we try to manage so many different things. Don’t forget the passion you had when you first received Christ! We often (myself included) fail to recognize the people God has placed in our paths to share with. Co-workers, strangers, family, friends, and neighbors are in our lives for a purpose. Pray about how you can intentionally serve them with the love of Christ. Declare His praises not just when you are singing words, but with your everyday speech!
Philemon’s Promise:
So what’s your story? How do you declare the praises of Him, who brought you out of the darkness? How does one lead another to connect with God? Your story of what was once darkness, filthy, ragged, dysfunctional, prideful, cynical, hopeless, broken, sick in your life to what God is transforming you to be in Christ is the most powerful priesthood tool you have. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, He will lead you to share your story…
This is what Paul says to Philemon about sharing, “I pray that you will be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” Did you get that? God’s promise is that when we exercise our faith sharing, He will be faithful to develop our understanding of His goodness!
Happy Story-Sharing.
We would love to hear your faith-sharing stories…
